About Mark

photo of mark brent dolinsky as a teenager while apple pickingMark was a friendly and compassionate teenager who was loving and loyal to his family, and to the entire community around him. He was genuinely concerned about other people; it was his character which really stood out. He was the kind of brother who would put his arm around you when you were feeling down, and share a few words to make you feel better. Mark was the kind of friend who would reach out to you if you felt ostracized or alone. He was a young man who created ways to enjoy a weekend afternoon that would be endlessly entertaining, as long as he had a friend sharing the experience. Mark was a son who made his parents proud, not because of his academic excellence, but due to his evident caring for each and every one in the family along with his sense of humor, his constant striving to earn their respect, and his appreciation for the work involved in parenting him.

Consequently, the Character Awards which are given at White Plains High School and at the supplementary religious school he attended, Temple Israel Center, emphasize the good qualities that Mark exemplified -- compassion, concern, kindness, integrity, and so forth. The trumpet and ice hockey stick which appear in the logo evoke two of the hobbies with which Mark was involved. The projects and programs that are earmarked for funding represent the kind of good deeds that Mark himself would have been eager to have been involved with, had he lived. He was truly a good-hearted person, and we, his immediate family and friends, teachers and mentors, sorely miss him. In this spirit, we trust the work done in Mark's name will continue his legacy.
